Celebrity Media Holiday Sing-a-Long To Be Released!
Sheena Grobb performs "Empty Bowl Winter" LIVE at Winnipeg Harvest at Launch Event.
Winnipeg - November 27, 2009 - Join us on Tuesday, December 1st at Winnipeg Harvest as Sheena Grobb performs several songs including "Empty Bowl Winter" LIVE at the Harvest warehouse. With the talents of 11-time Juno nominee Dan Donahue and local singer/songwriter Sheena Grobb who both wrote the tune for Winnipeg Harvest, the holiday song was brought to life by celebirty voices of our local media, musicians, and athletes at a November 24th recording at MidCanada Production Services Inc (MIDCAN), which was later mastered at Channels Studios on Sargent. There will also be a special bowl unveiled that you wount want to miss!
"There's a line in the song that says... and we'll sing like this song could fill a thousand plates. What was once a wishful metaphor has become a humbling reality right before our eyes. That's exactly what we're doing", says Grobb whose accolades include; nominee at the Western Candian Music Awards and the Los Angeles Music Awards. her producer Donahue comments, "Music has the magical way of taking us to places we don't often visit and amazingly enough that place is something we all seem to share. What can be more inspiriing that knowing together we can really make a difference". Donahue has produced such top acts as Fred Penner, Valdy, Heather Bishop, and the theme song of the 1999 Pan Am Games.
Last year, Winnipeg Harvest distributed almost 10 million pounds of food to over 320 Member Agencies across Manitoba, including food bands, soup kitchens, youth programs, and drop-in-centres. Currently, Harvest distributes food to over 40,000 people each month. The numbers of people using food banks has jumped almost 20% since 2009, with almost 50% of those recipeincts being children. David Northcott, Executive Coordinator of Winnipeg Harvest says, "Dan and Sheena are gifts! To create music that echoes our spirit of caring for one another helps to fill bowls now and all year!"
All the proceeds raised from "Empty Bowl Winter" will go to Winnipeg Harvest and its many programs that assist struggling families out of poverty.
